Our Story

Origin Hill was founded by Simran and Risham, based in Stouffville, Ontario.
What started as a shared curiosity about better coffee slowly became a small-batch roastery built around traceable coffees, and thoughtful roasting. We care about where a coffee comes from, how it is roasted, and how it fits into real life once it gets home.

One of us was already a coffee drinker. The other came around slowly, and eventually became the one making it every morning.

We started with a simple coffee setup, tried freshly roasted coffee, and the difference was hard to ignore. We got an espresso machine, started trying coffees from roasters across Canada, and the more we tried, the more we noticed how different coffee could be.

Every time we picked up a new bag and read the varietal, the process, the farm name, it made us want to understand more. So we started learning, and eventually decided to learn roasting as well.

It became a project we took on together, the way couples find something new to figure out side by side. We love baking, and roasting pulled us in for similar reasons. There is science and timing, but also a point where you have to trust your senses.

Through those first batches, we roasted and shared everything with friends and family. Seeing how everyone responded, what they tasted, and whether the coffee became something they wanted to drink again. That feeling was the start of Origin Hill, and it has not changed.

What we care about

01

Coffee connects the dots

A coffee starts with the farm, the producer, and the process. Then roasting and brewing shape what it becomes in the cup.

We like being one part of that path, helping thoughtful coffees find the people who will enjoy them.

02

Coffee for real life

Coffee does not always happen slowly.

Sometimes it is a careful pour-over. Sometimes it is an espresso before work. Sometimes it is the bag you keep reaching for because it just works.

We roast for that real life rhythm.

03

Small keeps us close

We keep our lineup selective, roast in small batches, and stay close to each coffee from profile to package.

Being small lets us stay careful, curious, and connected to the reason we started.
