Flor y Nata means cream of the crop, and that’s exactly what this coffee represents. Expect notes of dried apricot, roasted pecan, and milk chocolate in a cup that feels balanced, with gentle sweetness and warmth. It’s a coffee that works well day to day, while still giving you something to notice.
Why this coffee stands out
This coffee comes from Finca Aurora in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, owned by Enrique Ferrufino and Silvia Norori. Doctors by profession, they approach coffee with care and precision, running Aurora as a fully integrated farm where growing, washing, and drying all happen on site.
As part of their Flor y Nata selection, only the finest cherries are chosen and processed with close attention at every step. The coffee is washed, fermented for around 36 hours, then slowly patio-dried for 12 days and rested before hulling. The result is a cup that feels clean, and balanced.
Origin Hill Note: Expect a smooth, rounded cup with nutty and chocolate depth, lifted by soft dried fruit. Works well as both espresso and filter. If brewing as espresso, grind slightly finer than usual.
